Another Cold Kraken Dive

Updated: Jan 13, 2024

On the day of our team's annual swim test requalifications, a couple of us dove in the quarry. The weather was pretty nice, it was about 76* F on the surface, but it was still dark and cold at depth. My dive buddy, Spencer, and I dove on open circuit with drysuits, while Nate and Jessie dove on their rebreather units. We started out our dive on the deep platform, yet somehow made our way into nothing. The four of us dove straight on for a few minutes, seeing nothing but specks of little creatures and dust. Spencer and I needed to come up for our NDL's, so we made our way to a platform. We finally realized that the platform we found was to the sunken boat and bus at 60 ft! After we visited the bus, I was low on air and we began our ascent, stopping for our 3 minute safety stop. Once we got to the surface, one of our mermaid friends (Summer) came to greet us!

Dive 1: 101 ft max, 55* F, 55 min dive time
